Monbulk Skip Hire – Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 23 January 2026

At Monbulk Skip Hire, we keep skip bin hire simple and safe. These Terms & Conditions explain how bookings work, where we can place your skip bin, what waste types are allowed, and what happens if access is blocked, the bin is overloaded, or a load is too heavy to legally transport. They also cover hire periods, extensions, delivery and collection timing, and our call-out fee if we can’t deliver or collect due to limited access or other issues outside our control. Please read these terms before booking, and ask us if anything is unclear.

These Terms & Conditions apply to all skip bin hire services provided by Monbulk Skip Hire. By booking a skip bin (by phone, message, or enquiry), you agree to these terms.

1) Definitions

  • We / us / our means Monbulk Skip Hire.

  • You / customer / hirer means the person booking the skip bin.

  • Bin / skip means the skip bin we deliver.

  • Site means the delivery address.

2) Bookings and quotes

  • A booking is confirmed once we accept it and agree on the key details (delivery address, bin size, waste type, delivery day, and collection plan).

  • Any quote is based on the information you provide. If the waste type, bin size, access, or load differs from what was agreed, we may need to re-price or reclassify the load (and we’ll explain this before proceeding).

  • We may refuse a booking if access is unsafe, the waste type is not accepted, or we can’t reasonably deliver or collect.

3) Payments

Customers either pay over the phone or by cash on delivery.

  • Phone card payments must be paid at the time of booking or as agreed with us.

  • Cash payments are due on delivery unless we agree otherwise.

  • We do not accept bank transfers.

4) Delivery and collection time windows

We aim to work within these usual windows:

  • Deliveries: generally 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

  • Collections: generally 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

These times are guides only. If you need a specific time, ask us at booking and we’ll do our best to organise it.

5) Hire period and extensions

  • Standard hire periods are 1 to 7 days (as agreed at booking).

  • Longer hire periods can be requested and are subject to availability.

  • Extensions are offered where possible. During busy periods, extensions may be limited due to stock and scheduling.

6) Where do we place the skip

  • You must provide a clear, safe, accessible placement area.

  • If you direct us to place the bin in a particular spot, you accept responsibility for that choice (including clearance, ground conditions, and proximity to fences/trees/structures).

  • The bin must not be moved once placed.

7) Access requirements

You must ensure access is available for delivery and collection, including:

  • Clear driveway/access way (no blocked cars, locked gates, low branches, or obstacles).

  • Safe ground conditions (firm surface where possible).

If we arrive and cannot safely deliver or collect due to limited access or any other reason outside our control, a $120 call-out / dry-run fee applies for lost time and truck running expenses.

8) On-street placement and permits

  • If you want a bin placed on a road, nature strip, or any council-controlled land, you are required to have a council permit. All permits are organised prior to the delivery of your skip bin service.

  • If a permit is required and not in place, we may refuse delivery or relocate the bin to private property.

9) Your responsibilities while the bin is on site

From delivery until collection, you are responsible for:

  • Keeping the bin safe and secure.

  • Preventing unauthorised use by neighbours/others.

  • Ensuring nothing hazardous or prohibited is placed in the bin.

  • Ensuring the bin is not overloaded or unsafe to transport.

10) Fill level, overloading, and safety

  • Do not fill above the top edge of the bin. Loads must be level with or below the rim.

  • Bins must be loaded safely (no protruding items, no unstable piles).

  • If the bin is overloaded or unsafe, we may refuse collection until it is made safe. Additional charges may apply for delays, return visits, or re-handling.

11) Weight limits and excess weight charges

  • Each booking is for an agreed bin size and waste category, which includes a maximum weight allowance for that category and size (as advised at booking).

  • If the load exceeds the included weight allowance, excess weight charges apply, calculated at a set rate per 100 kg (or part thereof) over the allowance.

  • If a bin is overloaded or too heavy to legally or safely transport, we may require you to remove material before collection, or we may arrange an alternative solution (additional costs may apply). We will discuss this with you before proceeding.

12) Prohibited waste

You must not place prohibited or dangerous materials in the bin, including (but not limited to):

  • Asbestos or suspected asbestos

  • Chemicals, liquids, paints, oils, fuels, solvents

  • Gas bottles, explosives, ammunition, flares

  • Batteries and e-waste requiring special handling

  • Medical/biological waste, needles

  • Hot ash, smouldering materials

If prohibited waste is found (or suspected), we may refuse collection, require removal, or charge additional costs for compliant handling. We may also report matters where legally required.

13) Damage to property and surfaces

  • We take care when delivering and collecting.

  • You acknowledge that skip bins are heavy and some surfaces can be marked or damaged depending on ground conditions, slope, moisture, pavers, asphalt softness, or hidden edges/pipes.

  • If you are concerned about your surface, you can provide boards/timber for protection and we will use them if practical.

  • We are not responsible for pre-existing damage or issues outside our reasonable control.

  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for damage caused by our negligence where the law does not allow it.

14) Delays and events outside our control

Delivery and collection times are estimates. Delays can occur due to traffic, weather, breakdowns, disposal site delays, emergencies, or workload changes. We’ll communicate as soon as we can if timing changes.

15) Cancellation and rescheduling

  • If you cancel or reschedule, please tell us as early as possible.

  • If we have already dispatched the truck or arrived on site, the $110 call-out / dry-run fee will apply.

16) Lost items

Do not place valuables in the bin. We are not responsible for items placed in the bin, whether intentionally or by mistake.

17) Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantees or rights you may have under law.

18) Unfair contract terms

We aim to keep our terms fair and reasonable. If any term is found to be unlawful or unfair, it will be read down or removed to the extent necessary, and the rest will continue to apply.
